Pinay teenager Anatalia Villaranda wowed The Voice 2017 judges during the Feb. 27 premiere of the show. Singing her energetic version of Bruno Mars’ Runaway Baby, she had all four turning their chairs during her performance. The Voice 2017: Anatalia Villaranda, Young Talent When the judges spoke to her after her performance, she shared that she was only 16 years old. Hailing from Temecula, California, she previously auditioned on the final season of American Idol and made it as far as the middle rounds. She also appeared on a Disney channel show Shake It Up! This is her first audition with The Voice, however, and judging by the coaches reactions, she made quite an impression. Alicia Keys said that hers “was more than just a voice. This is an artist unafraid to express yourself. I would like you to look in your heart and see how important it is for you to be on my team.” Blake Shelton, on the other hand, said that she turned her energy “into something like, no, I’m gonna keep beating you guys down until somebody hits their button.” Anatalia eventually picked to be on Team Alicia. Anatalia Villaranda: Full-Blooded Pinoy Villaranda shared her excitement to be on Alicia’s team via Twitter, shouting, “OMG WHAAATTTT?!?!? I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M ON TEAM ALICIA!” While Villaranda and her family live in California and are already U.S. citizens, she earlier shared also on Twitter that she is a full-blooded Pinay. Her mother hails from Bacolod while her dad comes from Manila. A Carter Matt report cited one big advantage of Anatalia’s nationality. This is so because Filipinos are known to support anyone of Filipino heritage so strongly in the form of votes. The report cited the cases of Jessica Sanchez and Thia Megia on American Idol and 5th Impact on The X Factor. Watch Anatalia Villaranda: Runaway Baby Facebook Comments
