‘The Voice’ Season 11 Dec 5 Recap: Top 8 Live Performances, Top 4 Predictions

The Voice 2016

“The Voice” officially kicked off its semifinals round last December 5, with the remaining eight artists performing their all, as they vie for the top 4 spots for the finals next week. The live performances show gave each artist two chances to sing, with one solo performance and another a duet with another artist.

According to a report by The Hollywood Life, overall the artists were at their best during the semifinals. Each artist was assigned a song by their respective coaches, and the report cited that most of the song choices was able to show off each artist’s strength as a singer.

Top 8 Live Performances – Giving Their All

Christian Cuevas of Team Alicia went back to his gospel-singing roots with “To Worship You I Live.” Although the song was relatively unknown to the audience, Christian was in his element during his performance, which was greatly complemented with some choral singing. The next solo performance was that of Ali Caldwell of Team Miley. Singing a big song “I Will Always Love You” she was able to do effortlessly. According to The Hollywood Life, her performance combined some of the style of Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston.

Team Adam’s Brendan Fletcher was up next, with his version of “Angel” by Sarah Maclachlan. The Hollywood Life report cited that his performance showed off an emotional connection to the song, but another report noted that despite this connection, some of the parts sounded “shaky.” Next up is Team Alicia’s We McDonald who sang “Scars To Your Beautiful” with her powerful voice and rousing performance.

Aaron Gibson performed Bryan Adam’s “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” and while his raspy voice can rival that of the original singer, his performance was not perfect, as his voice cracks in some parts of his song.  Josh Gallagher on the other hand decided on a stripped down performance, with his rendition of “Danny’s Song,” which paid off as one report cited it as one of his best performances in the season.

In one of the night’s best performances, Sundance Head gave his all when he performed country song “Love Can Build A Bridge,” which earned him a standing ovation from all the coaches. The final solo performance was that of Billy Gilman, one of Team Adam’s powerful singers. Singing Celine Dion’s “I Surrender” his performance ended to non-stop applause from the audience.

Top 4 Predictions, Who Will Most Likely Go Home

Most of the predictions are based on the performances and how each artist has been ranked in the past few weeks. According to Gold Derby, the bottom four who will likely get the lowest votes are Aaron Gibson, Josh Gallagher, Ali Caldwell and Christian Cuevas. This leaves the top four to be Billy Gilman, We McDonald, Brendan Fletcher and Sundance Head.

In tomorrow’s live elimination night, fans will find out who will remain for “The Voice” finals next week.
