The Weekly iTunes Top 12 Mixtape

iTunes Top 12

This is how much we at Pilipinas Popcorn love and adore music in all its glory and freshness. I’ve been doing a daily countdown show called The Daily Dozen in the Station where I blast my voice off for thousands to hear. Everytime we air the program, people stop and listen to know where their favorite tracks are found on the show. I don’t know, for some reason, people identify to a song so much that they would risk blood and grit just to get it on top.

That’s why we want you to look forward to your Fridays. Not only because it’s basically the gateway to the weekend, but just like my radio show, we’ll be dropping the 12 hottest and strongest songs on the iTunes chart for you to love and adore too. So let’s get the countdown rolling!

#12 One Call Away – Charlie Puth

Just like Superman, our guy Charlie here has been on this countdown for a loooong time now, and you wouldn’t be surprised if he stays. After all, once you call him, he’ll be there.

#11 Say You Won’t Let Go – James Arthur

One of Pop Music’s rising stars, James Arthur gives us a shoulder (or a song to cry on for those restless nights where you just can’t be sure if that person’s here to stay or not (clingy, much?

#10 Cold Water – Major Lazer ft. Justin Bieber & MØ

Photo via iTunes

Watch. This. Music. Video. Seriously, no one can execute that kind of dance routine while you’re on a mountain with a drone camera lingering above you. And if you feel you’re sinking, don’t drink the Cold Water! (Apologies for the bad puns

#9 Shout Out To My Ex – Little Mix

Photo via iTunes

Why is it that most of the songs of today are all about shade (we’re looking at you, Taylor Swift!? This one, no matter how fire the track is, would always want you to remember him or her and just throw in a cantankerous fit. But all in all, this song’s catchy. Good for rides and stuff.

#8 Starboy – The Weeknd ft. Daft Punk

Photo via iTunes

Not sure if this is a homage to David Bowie, the Starboy. But it’s been a habit for any track with Daft Punk on it to be considered a huge commercial success. It’s a slight deviation from The Weeknd’s sound, but awesome and catchy nonetheless.

#7 Jumpshot – Dawin

It’s always fun to listen to Dawin. Like literally fun. His songs always seem to have this positive effect on you, as if every day is a hot sunny day for frolicking and being weird with nature.

#6 We Don’t Talk Anymore – Charlie Puth ft. Selena Gomez

Photo via iTunes

Another somewhat shady song, but earcandy still. Puth and Gomez are a good heartbreak team. Maybe they should start their own therapy sessions? It’s good to hear from them both. Oh, and have you noticed how we have the same artists occupying the countdown?

#5 Nobody’s Better – Z ft. Fetty Wap

Photo via iTunes

The world-famous Fetty Wap challenge song is a good hip-hop/R&B track to bop your head to. I’ve never been this guilty of loving Fetty Wap’s songs. But hey, it’s good. I prmise.

#4 Don’t  Wanna Know – Maroon 5 ft. Kendrick Lamar

Photo via iTunes

Ever since “Sugar”, we’ve all been excited as to how Maroon 5 changed their sound but still remained the same band that we all used to cry and scream with (rememeber “This Love”? throw in Lamar into the mix and you got yourself a pop-hiphop crossover guaranteed to give you that lingering LSS.

#3 Million Reasons – Lady Gaga

Photo via iTunes

Since when did Gaga sing about heartbreak and love this solemnly? Stefani Germanotta days of course! (That’s her real name, btw. Back before she was known as Gaga, her soothing and powerful voice has always been her asset. This song just echoes it even more.

#2 All We Know – The Chainsmokers ft. Phoebe Ryan and #1 Closer – The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey

Two respective top songs from the same artists? Well, you gotta hand it to The Chainsmokers. It seems that every song they produce becomes a hit and stays that way for long. Come on, we know you’re singing these tracks in your head.
