Attention movie buffs out there! 2019 is going to be a superbly amazing year for movies! In fact, the year has already kicked off with highly acclaimed movies like “Mary Poppins Returns,” “Bumblebee,” and “Glass.” And worry not because those movies are only the tip of the ginormous iceberg of 2019 movies we can’t wait to see. It’s quite the list so please bear with us. So, stock up on the popcorn and the movie drinks and get ready for a whole year of amazing movies!

Serenity
Starring Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey, “Serenity,” tells the story of a fishing boat captain caught in the web of deceit of his ex-wife. Baker Dill’s (McConaughey) ex-wife Karen (Hathaway) returns. And she pleads for help to save her and their young son from her abusive husband. How? Lead him out to the sea and throw him to the sharks. As Dill falls back into a life he tried to forget, he is plunged into a whole new reality of right and wrong that is not as it all seems to be.
How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
Can’t get enough of toothless? Seems like the world can’t too. In the third installment to the “How To Train Your Dragon” series, Hiccup and Toothless race with the tyrant Gimmel to find “The Hidden World.” Toothless finds another Night Fury and together, they journey with the gang to defeat the enemy. However, in the end, Hiccup must make the hardest decision of his life to keep the dragons and his people safe.
Captain Marvel
One of the most anticipated films in our 2019 movies list is “Captain Marvel” starring Brie Larson. A lot of people are hoping that this could tie in somehow to how the Avengers will be saved. But, according to the official logline, the film follows the story of Carol Danvers and how she came to be Captain Marvel. And it chronicles her journey as she returns to Earth only to be caught up in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
Us
Starring Lupita Nyong’o, Elizabeth Moss, and Winston Duke, “Us” is director Jordan Peele’s follow up to his hit 2017 movie “Get Out.” Adelaide Wilson (Nyong’o) returns to her childhood beachfront home together with her family. Then, the happy trip turns into something horrendous as four masked strangers infiltrate the house and force the Wilson’s to fight for life. What’s more disturbing is that when the masks come off, each stranger takes the form and face of a family member.
Dumbo
One of the most awaited live-action films in our 2019 movies list is the tear-jerking “Dumbo.” If the trailer can already make grown men misty-eyed, how much more damage can the movie do? “Dumbo” follows the plot of the classic tale of the flying elephant wanting to be reunited with his mom. Together with Tim Burton’s creative directorial touch, this film is truly something worth waiting for.
Shazam!
“Shazam!” has pumped up DC fans all over the world since word first got out. Under director David Sandberg, the DC superhero flick stars Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, and Asher Angel. It follows the story of 14-year-old Billy Batson (Angel) who receives the power to transform into adult Shazam (Levi). His powers are put to the test against the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Pet Sematary
If this film adaptation to Stephen King’s novel of the same title is as terrifying as the book, “It” may have some serious competition. The film follows the Creed family as they move into a new home which is coincidentally near the local “pet sematary.” After their cat gets hit by a truck, the patriarch of the family Louis buries the cat in the eerie cemetery. However, things are not as they seem and the dead are definitely better remaining dead.
Avengers: Endgame
“Avengers: Endgame” will mark the end of an era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And as sad as that seems, fans are dying to know what happens after “Infinity War.” Not much is knows save that Hawkeye is back, Tony is lost in space, and Ant-Man joins the fight. And fans are also hoping “Captain Marvel” will shed light on some clues. No matter what, the anticipation for this movie is through the roof and fans won’t be in peace until it is out or maybe even after.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum
“John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” picks up right after the events of “John Wick: Chapter 2.” After breaking the rules and killing a high-level crime lord, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run with a 14-million bounty on his head. Hitmen and women everywhere are after him and he must survive this ordeal without help from the larger criminal underworld.
Rocketman
Director Dexter Fletcher and British actor Taron Egerton come together again after “Eddie the Eagle” in “Rocketman.” This film is an Elton John biopic covering John’s rise to fame. It will take the viewers through John’s childhood as a prodigy, his break from Philadelphia, and his relationship with lyricist Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell).
Aladdin
Ready to see the mischievous and clever lamp-owner Aladdin in real life? Well, most of the world is buzzing in excitement in the next film in our 2019 movies list. Canadian actor Mena Massoud will be seen as Aladdin and opposite him as Jasmine is Naomi Scott. We’ll be seeing Will Smith as the genie with director Guy Ritchie at the helm making his family entertainment debut. Seeing as how fantastic Disney live-action adaptations are, we surely expect nothing less with “Aladdin.”
Dark Phoenix
The X-men franchise is back in action! One of the most popular stories from the comics featuring Jean Gray will soon be on the big screen. Sophie Turner will be taking on the role of Gray. Joining her in the movie are James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence. In “Dark Phoenix,” Jean Gray is nearly killed by a mysterious cosmic force during a rescue mission. When she comes home, she becomes more powerful than ever but also more unstable. And the X-men must now work all together to save her.
Spider man: Far From Home
Spider man is coming back soon. And here, we’ll be seeing Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in Europe. His vacation takes an unexpected turn and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) shows up. Soon enough, they team up to fight against the evil Mysterio (Jack Gyllenhaal) and stop the havoc he’s been wreaking around the continent. Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, and Michael Keaton will be back joining the team under the direction of Jon Watts.
The Lion King
Under the direction of Jon Favreau, the Disney classic “The Lion King” is coming to life. If that’s not exciting enough, take a look at the voice cast. Donald Glover will be voicing Simba, Beyonce is signed on as Nala, and James Earl Jones is lending his voice to Mufasa. Honestly, just watching “The Lion King’s” trailer pulls out all the goosebumps. So, just think of watching the actual film. The goosebumps might never actually stop.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
For “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” director Quentin Tarantino is bringing together a major A-list cast. Leading the ensemble are top leading men Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. Other stars joining them are Margot Robbi, Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, and James Marsden. The story revolves around Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his long-time stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) as they try to find success in an unfamiliar Hollywood just as the Manson family murders take place.
Artemis Fowl
Another highly anticipated book adaptation in our 2019 movies list is “Artemis Fowl.” It centers around the story of a 12-year-old criminal mastermind who hopes to find his criminal father. In his search, he kidnaps a fairy and uses her as ransom against an evil pixie in exchange for his father. And this just puts him in a battle against some powerful underground fairies.
It: Chapter Two
Ready to get clown-spooked all over again? Well, worry not ‘cause Bill Skarsgard’s Pennywise is back to terrorize your dreams. “It: Chapter Two” follows 30 years after the events of the first movie. And the grown-up cast of the Losers club includes Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Hader. This time, the Losers club is out to end Pennywise for good.
The Goldfinch
Now, there might be an overload of adaptations in this 2019 movies list. But, we just can’t help that they’re all looking too good. In “The Goldfinch,” another A-list cast comes together to bring life to Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. This includes Ansel Elgort in the lead role together with Sarah Paulson, Nicole Kidman, Finn Wolfhard, Jeffrey Wright, and Luke Wilson. The story revolves around Theodore Decker (Elgort) who survives a terrorist bombing in an art museum. After the explosion, Decker goes through a series of adventures that eventually leads him to a life crime.
Kingsman 3
Now for some glamorous spy action, we have the third and final installment to Matthew Vaughn’s “Kingsman” series. Sadly, a lot of details under this film are still tightly under wraps. What we do know is that it might be set in the past chronicling the origins of Kingsman in the 1900s. And again, sadly, Taron Egerton has confirmed that he won’t be in this next film. Though that doesn’t mean that he has forever said goodbye to the Kingsman universe. Just for this one.
Star Wars: Episode IX
Last but not least in this 2019 movies list is the ninth and final installment to the “Star Wars” film franchise. The film’s timeline jumps a year after the events of “The Last Jedi.” And we will be seeing a lot of familiar faces on this one. Actors returning to reprise their roles include Billy Dee Williams, Mark Hammil, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, and a lot more. On the other hand, new faces include Matt Smith, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, and Keri Russell. It’s also said that we’ll be seeing the late Carrie Fisher reprising her role as Princess Leia through unreleased footage from “The Force Awakens.” No matter what, this film will bring joy all over the world to the millions of fans it has.
