Tropical Depression Ramil Over West Philippine Sea, Class Suspensions

Tropical depression Ramil has maintained its strength and is now over the West Philippine Sea. Tropical Cyclone Warning signals are now lifted according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Although there are no storm signals, classes are still suspended on Nov 2 in the following areas listed below due to bad weather.

Update as of 11 am: Ramil has intensified into a tropical storm while moving westward over the West Philippine Sea. Moderate to occasionally heavy rains will prevail over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon due to the Tropical storm and the Northeast Monsoon. PAGASA warns residents of these areas for possible landslides and flash floods.

At 4 a.m. on Nov 2, the center of Tropical Depression Ramil was estimated at 230 km West of Coron, Palawan. It is forecast to move West at 15 kph. Ramil is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility Thursday evening or early morning on Nov 3.

According to PAGASA, Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals are now lifted. However, moderate to occasionally heavy rains are still expected over Mindoro Provinces, Palawan, Batangas, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island and Aurora. PAGASA warns residents in these areas for possible landslides and flash floods. Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains, however, are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Class suspensions Thursday, Nov 2. Meanwhile, a report by Interaksyon says classes are suspended in the following areas due to bad weather. These include Batangas, Cagayan Province, Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, and Cavite.

PAGASA further reports that Ramil is expected to be 155 km North Northeast of Pagasa Island Palawan Friday morning. On Saturday, it is expected to be 285 km West Northwest of Pagasa Island. On Sunday, it will be 725 km West of still Pagasa Island Palawan.

For Baguio dwellers, PAGASA issued a Thunderstorm watch at 10 am on Nov 2. A thunderstorm is more likely to develop over Benguet within 12 hours. All are advised to continue monitoring for updates.
