UPDATE (11:27 a.m.): As of 11 a.m., PAGASA reports Jolina has intensified further as it moves closer to Isabela-Aurora area. Signal No. 2 is now raised in Ilocos Sur, Benguet, Abra, and La Union. Signal No 2 still raised in the areas of Isabela, Northern Aurora, Kalinga, Quirino, Mountain Province and Ifugao.
Signal No 1 is still raised in Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, rest of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Pangasinan. It is also still raised in Northern Quezon including Polilo island, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.
Update (5 a.m.) The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) says tropical depression Jolina (international name Pakhar) is now a tropical storm as of 5 a.m. on Friday, Aug 25. Signal No 1 and 2 have since been raised in numerous areas in Luzon.
It has just been days since tropical storm Isang left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). On Aug 22, Isang brought light to heavy rains over the Visayas and Luzon. Three days after, tropical storm Pakhar makes its way to the Philippines affecting Luzon.
Tropical Storm Jolina, Signal No 1 and Signal 2 in areas in northern and central Luzon
In PAGASA’s report early Friday morning via Facebook seen below, it stated that Jolina has slightly accelerated and now moves towards northern and central Luzon. According to PAGASA, Signal No. 2 has been raised in Isabela, Northern Aurora, Kalinga, Quirino, Ifugao, Mountain Province, and Nueva Vizcaya.
Signal No 1, however, is raised in Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Benguet, rest of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Pangasinan. It is also raised in Northern Quezon including Polilo island, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.
The report further says that as of 3 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Jolina was estimated based on all available data at 310 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora (15.3ᴼN, 124.8ᴼE) with maximum sustained winds of 65km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km per hour. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 19 km per hour.
