Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No 1 and No 2 have been raised in numerous areas in Visayas and Mindanao. On Tuesday, Tropical depression Urduja left the Philippine Area of Responsiblity (PAR). On Wednesday, a low pressure (LPA) area located 975 km east of Mindanao in the morning entered PAR and was being monitored by PAGASA. The LPA turned into a tropical storm on Thursday as reported by PAGASA. Vinta moves towards Eastern Mindanao, Signal No 1 and 2 raised in numerous areas At 7 am on Thursday, the center of Tropical Storm Vinta was estimated based on all available data at 440 km East of Hinatian, Surigao del Sur. It has maintained its strength as it moves towards the direction of Easter Mindanao. It is forecast to move West at 18 kph according to the 8 am PAGASA bullletin. Vinta is expected to make landfall over Carafe-Davao region area between this evening and the morning of Dec 22. Central Visayas. Eastern Visatyas, Caraga, Davao Region and Northern Mindanao will experience scattered to widespread moderate heavy rains within the next 24 hours. Residents in these areas are advised to take appropriate actions against flooding and landslides and coordinate with disaster risk management offices and monitor updates. Signal No 1 has been raised in Southern Leyte, southern portion of Leyte, and Bohol. It has also been raised in Dinagat Island, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Compostela Valley, and Davao del Norte. Possible inclusion for the next weather bulletin are Souther Cebu, Siquijor, and Misamis Occidental. Signal No. 2 has been raised in Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, and Agusan del Sur. Update (3:38 pm)- In PAGASA’s 2 pm weather bulletin, Vinta is said to be slightly accelerating while maintaining its westward movement toward Eastern Mindanao. Signal No 1 is raised in Leyte, southern portion of Leyte, southern Cebu, Siquijor, Bohol, Southern Negros Occidental, Southern Negros Oriental, Dinagat Island, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, North Cotabato, Maguindanao, Rest of Davao Oriental, Northern Davao del Sur, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Zambanga del Norte. Signal No 2 is now raised over Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Northern Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin.
