ValentinesDayIn3Words, MyValentineIn4Words

Whenever people think of Valentine’s Day, three little words inevitably crop up. You know which ones: “I love you.” Inevitably people try to find ways to express these three little words through gifts, dates and other forms of affection on this day. But what about those unaffected by the hype? Well, they get creative. In the lead-up to February 14, #ValentinesDayIn3Words has been trending worldwide on Twitter. Somehow, the challenge to think of three different words to summarize the day was issued – and Twitter answered, playfully, bitterly, but above all hilariously.

Twitterverse on Valentine’s Day

Of course, there were those tweets lamenting their single status. Some were more cheerful about this than others. This guy found a bright side to singledom. Another show a bright side while other people were less positive and were obviously done with the holiday. But there were also some tweets that celebrated that they had someone, even if that someone wasn’t a significant other.

If one movement wasn’t enough, another Valentine’s Day-related tag #MyValentineIn4Words is also trending worldwide. (Will there be another trend using the number 5 in the near future?) Unlike the (sometimes bitter) hilarity of #ValentinesDayIn3Words, tweets in this tag seem to be a lot sweeter and heartfelt.
