Typhoon Huaning exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility on July 31. The Philippine Atmospheric Geographical Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), however, is monitoring the movement of yet another tropical cyclone with international name Noru.
Typhoon Gorio left PAR on July 30 after affecting numerous areas since its landfall on July 28. Hours after, typhoon Huaning hit the PH and according to PAGASA, at 7 a.m. on July 31, it was already found outside PAR. Its center was estimated at 750 km North Northwest of Basco Batanes.
Typhoon Huaning affects Cordillera, PAGASA monitors Tropical Cyclone Noru
PAGASA raised Signal no. 1 over Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Babuyan group of Islands, and northwestern part of Cagayan since Huaning entered the PH 8 a.m. on Sunday. According to the Manila Bulletin, PAGASA didn’t expect it to make landfall over any part of the Philippines. It was bound for the southern part of Taiwan Sunday afternoon.
Although Huaning did not make landfall, the southwest monsoon brought heavy rains over the western section of Central and Northern Luzon. The report says the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council reported damage in the areas of Kayang, Barangay Poblacion, Buguias and Barangay Pinget, Baguio City. Residents were also evacuated from landslide prone areas in Buguias, Bakun, and Tublay Benguet and Tadian in Mountain Province.
No signal warning has been raised in Baguio City on Monday and no suspension of classes as well. In Benguet, however, the following LGUs have suspended pre-school to secondary classes both public and private schools for July 31 in the areas of Atok, Trinidad, Buguias, Kapangan, Tublay, Kabayan, Mankayan, Kibungan. Bakun. In Sablan, Benguet and provinces of Abra, classes have been suspended in all levels. This is based on a post of the Civil Defense Cordillera. As of 10 a.m., PAGASA reports that thunderstorm is more likely to develop over Benguet within 12 hours. Constant monitoring is advised.
Now that Huaning is out of PAR, PAGASA is monitoring another tropical cyclone with international name Noru. A report by ABS-CBN says Noru was last seen 2,000 km east of Basco Batanes. The report further says Noru might not enter PAR but it could enhance monsoon rains. It added Noru might head for Japan.
