Uber is back and netizens on Twitter cannot help but share how uber happy they are that the ride-hailing service is back. They had to pay a painstaking amount of money amounting to P 190 million to get back in business.

On July 11, Uber and Grab were penalized by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) with P 5 million. This was due to their expired accreditation and allowing drivers to drive without permits. Both hailing services were should request for a renewal and pay the said amount to get back to its operation.

On Aug 15, however, the LTFRB then announced that they were suspending Uber for a month. This came after the network did not comply with an order by LTFRB to stop accepting new drivers into its platform. This, of course, brought netizens into a frenzy expressing how disappointed they are at LTFRB’s decision.

Uber is back, pays P 190 million fine

“Uber is back.” as announced by Uber Philippines via Twitter. The announcement went on to say, “We’re excited to announce that we’re now able to serve Filipinos again. As of 5 p.m. today, Aug 29th, we have resumed our services and expect to be fully operational in the coming days. We are grateful for all the support of riders and drivers over the past few weeks.”  Twitterverse is so happy that it’s had over a three thousand likes within minutes of posting.

The ride hailing service paid P 5 million fine on July 18 when they were penalized in July. Now, according to a CNN report, they’ve paid the P 190 million fine to the government for them to get back to business. However, they still have to show that they have paid their drivers for the 15 days that they’ve been out of business. It seems they’ve shown enough evidence as they are now operational.

Now that Uber is back, netizens on Twitter can’t help but celebrate and share how happy they are now that the ride-hailing service is back.
