UPCAT a.k.a. the University of the Philippines College Admission Test joined the list of top trending topics on Twitter Tuesday night, after news broke that UPCAT 2017 (for incoming freshmen in 2017-2018 academic year) results have been released. The new batch of Isko at Iska is welcomed with the customary line: “Welcome to hell.”
Take a look into this quick sample of tweets about the latest UPCAT results and what they (might) really mean:
PRIDE. If you’re an UPCAT passer, you’ve made your teachers proud.
FAITH. If you’re an UPCAT passer and you are thankful to God for it, you’d (hopefully) be one of the humblest kids in the batch. It only means you don’t think you and only your hard work (and nothing else) have made this possible.
NOSTALGIA. If you’re getting nostalgic about the time you found out that you passed the UPCAT, it’s because you’ve enjoyed or you’re still enjoying college life at the University of the Philippines as Iskolar ng Bayan.
HELL. If you’re greeting the UPCAT passers with the usual “Welcome to hell” line, it’s your way of saying either (a) “I have survived. You will survive, too.” or (b) “I’m still livin’ it and I know exactly what I mean. I have learned and lived what the ones before me had really meant to say. And I know exactly what you’re about to find out. Enjoy!” For the lucky ones, this could be the best hell of your life!
HOPE. If you’re looking at the UPCAT results as a hopeful Isko or Iska, you’ve chosen your university well. (Editor’s note: Kindly forgive the bias here.)
The results of UPCAT are currently available at the registrar’s office of UP campuses in the country. (UPDATE: You may now see the list here.) Congratulations, UPCAT passers for the 2017-2018 academic year. This Iska wishes you well in hell — wink, wink!
