Nora Aunor Chose Jack En Poy Over TNT Because Of Vice Ganda, Twitterverse Reacts

Nora Aunor, April 2013

Tawag Ng Tanghalan 1968 winner Nora Aunor appeared on GMA’s noontime show “Eat Bulaga” in a segment called Jack en Poy on March 11. The superstar chose this over being main judge on ABS-CBN’s “Tawag Ng Tanghalan sa Showtime,” a show that jumpstarted her career. Reports say TNT host Vice Ganda was the reason why Nora had to skip the gig on Saturday.

Nora Aunor Confirms Guesting On Eat Bulaga

In a report by PEP, Nora confirmed via phone interview on March 9, that she will be on GMA’s Superstar rather ABS-CBN’s “Tawag Ng Tanghalan.” Nora owes a lot to Senator Tito Sotto and could not say no his offer.

The senator helped a great deal when Nora’s brother, Buboy, passed away. Nora says she makes sure she returns back the favor if someone has done her good deed.

Nora Chose GMA over ABS-CBN because of Vice Ganda

It’s Showtime released a statement during its press release recently that Nora Aunor will be a main judge during the Grand Finals of “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” on March 11. Meanwhile, in a TV plug on “It’s Showtime’s” rival “Eat Bulaga,” it was announced that Nora would be a guest on GMA’s “Superstar” on the same day, March 11.

PEP asked Nora about her guesting on ABS-CBN. Just after Nora’s confirmation on March 9 that she will be on GMA, Nora changed her decision and confirmed to PEP that she will be on “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” instead. She says she will just speak to Senator Tito Sotto and said, “I think Tito Sen would understand.” Nora added, “It would not be good if I chose not to go, they would think I am unprofessional.”

PEP did more digging on the issue to make sure if Nora would indeed be on “Tawag Ng Tanghalan.” PEP confirmed that Nora backed out from ABS-CBN guesting, through a text message from It’s Showtime’s business unit head, Railey Santiago. Nora told PEP, “Yes, I did back out. I can’t handle Vice Ganda.”

Twitterverse on Nora Aunor and Vice Ganda issue

Nora’s reason for backing out was the one that created quite a stir. Nora says, “My heart can’t handle Vice Ganda’s disrespectfulness.” She added Vice might just disrespect her the way she was disrespected during one episode of Gandang Gabi Vice. Nora says, “Vice’s words or statements which I know are indirectly pertaining to me, I myself hear them sometimes.”

The superstar ended her statement with an apology to Railey Santiago and “It’s Showtime” producer Peter Edward Dizon.

Nora Aunor chose GMA’s “Jack En Poy” over ABS-CBN’s “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” because of Vice Ganda. Twitterverse could not help but react on her decision.
