Video Of Taxi Driver In Dubai Goes Viral

A video of a taxi driver in Dubai has gone viral because of his ability to speak the Filipino language fluently using the most popular expressions like “pak ganern” and “boom panes.” The video was posted in “Sikat na si Pedro” Facebook page on December 30 and has had almost 300,000 views and almost 10,000 shares.

Dubai Taxi Driver Speaks Fluent Tagalog

In the video, a Filipino passenger who seemed to be so amazed takes a video of a taxi driver who spoke, sang and even told jokes in tagalog. The passenger was on his way to the Dubai Mall and was able to take a five-minute video of the driver having a conversation with him in Filipino.

The driver starts with greeting the passenger “Magadang umaga sa’yo” (Goodmorning to you). He’s fluency in the language was noticeable when he uses the word “nakakaraos” (surviving) when the passenger asks, “kamusta ka?” (How are you?). They then exchange holiday greetings and instead of saying Happy New Year, the driver says, “Manigong Bagong Taon” (Happy New Year).

It gets funnier when the driver speaks about President Rodrigo Duterte. He says, “Kung may magawa kang kalokohan isusumbong kita kay Duterte” (If you commit a crime, you will answer to Duterte). He mentions that he learned about President Duterte through YouTube and describes him as “matapang” (fierce/strong).

The passenger asks how he learned to speak the Filipino langauage. The driver says he learned through his passengers because there were alot of ‘kababayan’s’ (fellow Filipino) in Dubai and the second reason is he loves to gossip and used the word “chismoso” (gossiper).

The driver then challenges his passenger to repeat Filipino tongue twisters and randomly says expressions like “pak ganern” and “boom panes.” He enumerates around 10 places in the Philippines and even sang a line from “Pusong Bato” (Heart of Stone).

The video ended with the driver greeting everyone, “Maligayang Pasko” (Merry Christmas). This is one cool dude! To the original uploader of this video, we would love to hear from you, please send us a message at editor@pilipinaspopcorn.com.
