Vivixx Academy in Baguio City offers another session of a fast track coding boot camp starting Dec. 1. The boot camp is an intensive 6-month training course that aims to equip trainees with advanced coding skills, that will help them become developers and programmers.

Through an information session last Sep. 26 at Calle Uno Co-Working Space, Vivixx President Ace Estrada and representatives from Australia’s Coder Academy shared details of the upcoming session. They also provided an update about the first run of the boot camp, which is set to end in November.

Updates On First Run Of Coding Boot Camp

Remember the story about the honest taxi driver, Reggie Cabututan and the Australian Trent Shields? The coding boot camp is where their story continues. Reggie, as a reward for his honesty, received a scholarship to the boot camp courtesy of Trent Shields, who is one of the Australian instructors for Coder Academy.

Reggie is one of the 21 students who took part in the first run which started on June 1. He joins the rest of the 18 students who will be taking on a 1-month remote internship in October, and hopefully, will be part of the graduating class in November.

According to Filipino instructor Jason Bruno, Reggie is one of the biggest gainers in the program. When he started, he barely knew how to manipulate a computer. Now, five months into the training, Reggie is already working on his own app that aims to help taxi drivers like himself become good tour guides.

Second Run Offers Scholarship For Women

The current session has a total of 19 students, 8 of which are women. During the info session, Trent Shields shared the good news that they will be offering another scholarship for the next run. This time around, it will be focused on women and getting more women in technology.

Called “Women In Front,” it will provide for 80% of the course fee (the course fee is PhP 240,000 for Filipinos) for the deserving applicant. Details of the scholarship will be made available soon, according to Trent. Those interested should watch out for further announcements on the Vivixx Academy or Trent’s FB page.
