The live shows on America’s Got Talent kicked off on Tuesday, with 36 acts making it to the quarter finals. Among the talents who performed on the first night of the live shows is Filipino-American Angelica Hale. This 9-year old girl chooses a big song, Clarity, for her performance.
She has performed on stage twice before, both with equally big song choices. And in both performances, she impressed the audience and the judges. Her live performance before a bigger venue and audience was no different.
3 Reasons Why Angelica Hale Gives You The Feels
1. Her backstory is her wellspring of emotion. Simon Cowell himself said that what Angelica Hale has gone through in her life that she was a very special girl. In her introductory video clip, Angelica said that singing became an important part of her life. When she was in the hospital recovering from double pneumonia and regaining her strength after a kidney transplant, singing was her way of cheering herself up.
When you listen to her on stage, she sings with so much emotion. Even Mel B. was almost brought to tears while she was singing.
2. She has a massive voice but has so much control. Howie Mandel praised Angelica for her impressive and massive voice, which was rare in a girl her age. He also commended her for her vocal range which was evident in her performance. Although it was not a perfect performance, Mandel still thinks that she has a good chance of winning the competition.
3. She can hit the high notes. Angelica surprises the judges towards the end of her song, when she hits an impressive high note which sounded almost like a whistle. Tyra Banks called it “the Mariah note,” which thrilled the audience as well. Simon also praised her for hitting that “killer high note” which was “amazing.”
