Bea Alonzo, Derek Ramsay, and Paulo Avelino will be facing each other in a complex battle of love in Bayani’s new daring film. Bayani’s film “Kasal” revolves around the struggles between a man wanting to stop a wedding, a man wanting to go through with the wedding and a woman deciding between them. It will be released on Star Cinema’s 25th anniversary on May 16. Here are five reasons you should be reserving that date to see this much-awaited film.

5 Reasons Why ‘Kasal’ Is A Must See

1. Three Big Stars

Derek Ramsay, Bea Alonzo, and Paulo Avelino have all worked together in the past in separate projects. Bea And Ramsay have worked together in “One More Chance” and “And I Love You So” while Bea worked with Paulo in the primetime series “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon.” Knowing that these actors already have good chemistry it definitely warranties the quality of this movie. In Star Cinema’s Instagram post announcing the release of the movie, Director Ruel Bayani said that he waited a whole year for the schedules of these three stars to meet. In an interview with ABS-CBN, the director also said that he was given a chance to recast. However, he wanted the perfect cast for “Kasal” and he only saw it in these three.

2. Daring Director

“Kasal’s” director Ruel S. Bayani is known for his daring films like “No Other Woman,” “Paano Na Kaya,” and “One More Try.” The director himself has admitted that he only directs movies in line with the daring theme. For “Kasal,” he’s carrying his brilliance in presenting mature movies with class. In this film, he will be dealing with love triangles in his signature style. “Kasal” will be his comeback film after his five-year break. His last project was with Angel Locsin, Zanjoe Marudo, Dingdong Dantes, and Angelica Panganiban in “One More Try.”

3. A More Complicated Love Triangle

Love triangles are a norm in Filipino cinema. However, this time Bayani is taking it to the peak. “Kasal” revolves around the new love and the old love of Bea Alonzo’s character, Lia, who’re both trying to fighting for different marriages. Based on the trailer, Derek Ramsay’s character has come back to stop Lia’s wedding, certain that she’ll come back to him. On the other hand, Lia’s fiance is fighting for his marriage despite keeping some secrets that might hinder it. Though she’s already engaged, Lia’s still torn between the two.

Though “Kasal” is already taking quite a twist with all its complications, how can it truly be different from all the romance movies also trying to have a different take on love triangles? After all, the trailer has promised to change our truths about love.

4. Even The Stars Are Excited About It

What hypes a movie more is when it’s own cast show their appreciation for the story itself. And on interviews, “Kasal’s” cast have shown great enthusiasm with the storyline in addition to reuniting with previous leads. In an interview with ABS-CBN, Paulo has assured the audience that “Kasal” will be an interesting film. In the same interview, Derek said that he’s excited to learn a lot more from “Kasal” and his co-stars. Bea Alonzo took the price in describing how excited she is for “Kasal.” She said that once she read a part of the script, she immediately knew she had to take the role no matter what. According to her, it’s rare to stumble upon a script that she’ll see herself doing. And “Kasal” was the one for her.

5. OST By Moira

Moira dela Torre is one of the Philippines’ best singers of today. And hearing her soulful voice accompanying all the sneak peaks of pain in “Kasal’s” trailer already sets the eyes on the verge of tears. “Kasal’s” OST “Tagpuan” is part of Moira’s album “Malaya.” The song was inspired by another movie “Love You To The Stars and Back.” According to Moira in one of her Instagram posts, in writing this song, she learned that waiting is never a bad thing. To her, there is so much hope when people persevere through life. “Kasal” is so much like that, however, in regards to love. And when there’s a backstory to the song of another story, well, isn’t that just a recipe for attachment?
