Spider-man: Homecoming, New trailer

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-man is back to swing on tall buildings and litter webs on your roofs! With awesome new features and a totally different story plot, the youngest superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to remake his own story into a whole new ball game. Are y’all looking forward to Spiderman: Homecoming?

Although before immersing yourselves into the high school version of your most relatable superhero, how about a throwback on the Spidey everybody came to know and love? Whether or not you’ve watched the very first Spider-Man film (No, not the home video), sure enough, you’ve fallen for this clever, casual super being.

Spiderman: Homecoming, are we expecting Toby’s rigidness or Andrew’s hip and style?

In the very first Marvel movie, the world was introduced to awkward, shy and introverted Peter Parker as portrayed by Toby Maguire. Anti-social except to his best and only friend Harry Osborn (James Franco). And of course, ever-so respectful to his Aunt May (Rosemary Harris).

On the reboot, Peter Parker had a gorgeous natural bed hair, was skateboarding on the hallways, and could play basketball anytime you summoned him to– in his jeans.

Now, as revealed in the trailer, the Tom Holland-version seems to stick more to the former. Nerdy, keeps to himself more but reveals his loud geeky nature with the right people. With his mask though, he still quips at intense moments– a characteristic the audience fell in love with. Looks like this Spiderman got the best of both worlds from the old versions.

Versus Villains

At first, Peter Parker’s enemies were all geniuses who made their own costumes and engineered their own strengths and the things they could do. Even in Andrew Garfield’s version, he was still faced with insanely smart genetically-altering doctors. In short, Peter Parker was up against humans.

Meanwhile, for this new Peter Parker, he is more attached to the world left behind by the Civil War he previously fought in. Because although his opponents were still essentially human, he was up against alien technology left behind by the Chitauri in their failed invasion. Weapons which will be recycled by lowly criminals such as The Vulture as played by Michael Keaton.

Watch Spider-Man: Homecoming New Trailer, New Spiderman Suit! Credits to Tony Stark

The new trailer seen below features more of the new Spidey suit. No more spandex or weird hoodies–care of the fanciest costume designer-slash-business tycoon Anthony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). It also showed the lighter side of Spider-man and how fun he is as a superhero while exploring his new found abilities. The trailer gives a bit more of the conflict Peter is in with The Vulture and how he solves it with the help of Iron Man. Watch the new trailer below.

It also reveals a spider button in the middle of the chest that, when pressed, loosens. So it’s stretchable now, and anybody can wear it, right? It appears so because his nerdy new friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Balaton) fits into it quite nicely. Another new feature is the animated, dilating eyes of the mask. This just helps everybody understand him more.

Unfortunately though, even if Spiderman’s got a fly new modified version of his costume, he still can’t summon an army of spiders. Sorry, Ned.

Despite this, the trailer will reveal Peter Parker attempting to ‘do things on his own’. A trait that’s so very Peter– independent and determined. So don’t get too surprised if you see this superhero sporting blue and red pajamas with goggles.

Sincerely Spidey

The friendly neighborhood Spiderman has had different motives. In Toby Maguire’s version, he serves a wholesome, selfless principle that is to keep his city safe. Meanwhile, he takes a more dark approach in Andrew Garfield’s story. He takes revenge for any bad guy who would remind him of his uncle’s death. He is seen throwing his pent-up angst on the bad guys.

This Homecoming version of Spiderman seems to want to prove something to himself. It’s a more transformational mission for him. Not too unnatural, given his age. It’s a coming-of-age for this Spiderman as he grows up into his own superhero. Guess Marvel wanted a more relatable approach.
