After a week of stunning performances, the quarter’s semifinalists faced the judges and the voting public on Results Day with segment hosts Vhong Navarro, Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis and Amy Perez. Noven Belleza and Eumee Capile have joined Maricel Callo, Mary Gidget Dela Llana, Mariel Montellano and Pauline Agupitan in the roster of grand finalists.

The third quarter semifinals judges were Yeng Constantino, Karla Estrada, Karylle, K Brosas and OPM legend Rey Valera. “Awit Ng Buhay Ko” or Song of My Life was the theme of the weekend on Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan. Here are the songs performed by the Quarter 3 semifinalists:

Eumee Capile. This 8-time defending champion from Bulacan, Luzon chose “Narito Ako” by Regine Velasquez. For Eumee, this lovesong is also about realizing her dream to be a professional singer. Judge K Brosas was positively impressed by Eumee’s performance.

K Brosas also reminded the audience that Eumee has always been professional on the show, performing live even with a 39-degree-Celsius fever. Vice Ganda, a self-confessed Eumeenatic, liked Eumee’s regal blue gown.

Noven Belleza. This 5-time defending champion from Negros Occidental, Visayas took on “Kahit Ako’y Lupa” by Basil Valdez. A farm worker, Noven said he was jealous of kids going to school, but he later realized that his situation may have taught him more things that others have yet to learn, such as genuine courage.

Judge Yeng was reduced to tears within the first few lines of Noven’s song. By the end of his number, Yeng, K and Karla were on their feet, wiping their tears. Noven had never been completely vulnerable until this point in Tawag ng Tanghalan. The camera later panned to a tearful audience, including Amy Perez and Anne Curtis.

Asked to share what he learned in his Tanghalan journey, Noven said: “Kahit simpleng tao, puwedeng mangarap.” Deeply moved by Noven’s number, Yeng said the singing farmer reminded her to be kind and humble. Noven’s girlfriend Mae was once again present to give her full support.

Lucky Robles. This 5-time defending champion from Baclaran, Metro Manila picked Gary Valenciano’s gospel song, “Take Me Out of the Dark.” Prior to joining the choir at Baclaran Church, Lucky said he didn’t feel like he was on solid ground. He said nurturing his faith has changed his life for the better.

Vice Ganda was particularly impressed by Lucky’s voice modulation. Rey Valera reiterated that Lucky’s talent has remained unquestionable. He added the judges were having mixed feelings, knowing that three of the quarter’s best performers would not make it to the Tawag ng Tanghalan grand finals.

Antonio Sabalza. This 6-time defending champion from Rizal, Luzon is Tanghalan’s “lo-lovable” contender. He chose Frank Sinatra’s “All The Way” as the song of his life, saying he’s a man who loves all the way and goes after his dreams all the way.

A singer for 47 years now, Antonio was the third quarter’s most senior contender on the show. He said joining Showtime’s singing competition was his way of leaving a legacy to his family, specially his grandchildren.

Judge Karylle was so impressed by Antonio’s number, that she said she would love to have him as a guest performer in her upcoming concert. After the performance, Daddy Antonio was surprised by his family members in the studio. His wife said he’s her only idol.

Jennie Gabriel. This 8-time defending champion from Makati City, Metro Manila worked in a comedy bar but didn’t feel like she belonged there. She chose to sing Gary Valenciano’s “Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos” because her prayers were heard; she is now able to present her own brand of humor without being bullied by senior performers.

Judge Karla Estrada lauded Jennie’s performance, saying she has a bright future in the Philippine music scene. One day, Karla said, Jennie herself would be the subject of impersonations.
