Tokyo International Film Festival best actor Paolo Ballesteros is back on the big screen to prove that you don’t have to be a mother to be a mommy with Regal Films’ Mother’s Day movie, “My 2 Mommies.” Alongside Paolo is “It” girl Solenn Heussaff, Joem Bascon, Dianne Medina, Marcus Cabais, and diamond star Maricel Soriano. The new comedy movie is directed by Eric Quizon.
“My 2 Mommies” is a story of an accidental affair that leads to an extraordinary story of the not-your-typical family set up. Mamu’s (Ballesteros) life will take a pivotal turn after he finds out that he has a 7-year-old son with a woman from his past, Monique (Heussaff). Heussaff and Ballesteros will be playing mother to the same kid.
Here’s why you shouldn’t miss ‘My 2 Mommies’
Diamond star Maricel Soriano’s comeback movie
It has already been two years since Maricel starred in a movie with Viva Film’s “Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin” in 2016. In “My 2 Mommies,” she plays the role of Tita Baby, Paolo Ballesteros and Dianne Medina’s aunt. The movie is also the comeback movie of the actress under the production house.
Relatable and timely movie
The casts said it themselves during the press conference, the movie is going to be ‘relatable’ and ‘timely’ as it mainly is about a parent’s unconditional love for his child despite an unconventional setup.
Actor’s similarity with their characters
Paolo Ballesteros and Solenn Heussaff admitted in an interview during a set visit that their characters in the movie are not different from their real-life characters. Solenn said that she’s kind of strict to her nieces and nephews and did something crazy in the past like her character Monique. Paolo, who has a daughter in real life, said that his character is ‘close to autobiography.’ “Papunta na doon eh, pero may parts lang na iba. Pero mas makatotohanan sya,” the actor said.
Introduces us to a different kind of love
In the same interview, the two mommies said that the movie will relay a different kind of motherly love that did not actually come from a mother. Solenn added that it is a modern kind of love. “Ang pagiging parent naman kahit naman sino, kahit bakla, kahit tomboy, kahit babae, kahit lalaki pwedeng maging parent,” Ballesteros said.
Graded A from cinema evaluation board
The family comedy movie got an A grading from the Cinema Evaluation Board. The movie has earned 5.5 million pesos on its first day as shared by Paolo Ballesteros on an Instagram post.
“My 2 Mommies” is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
