Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Jollibee Food Corporation said sorry to the public for the viral dance video of their mascot to the song Versace On The Floor. The official apology was issued last May 21 through the company’s Facebook page. According to the Inquirer, Tanner Mata shared the video on Facebook on Sunday. Since then, it has been viewed over 4 million times and shared over 110,000 times. Jollibee Says Sorry To Kids In their apology, the company particularly says sorry to their “young fans who may have been disappointed or offended” with the video. In the video, the well-known Jollibee mascot danced to Bruno Mars’ Versace On The Floor. As the song itself talks about a topic that is not appropriate for children, the mascot was seen making sexy dance moves. At one point in the video, the mascot even makes a move to unbutton his shirt. Many netizens noted that the dance is inappropriate since the mascot is one that is well-loved by kids. One Facebook comment said: “Former Jollibee marketing in-charge here. As per company marketing standard, Jollibee isn’t allowed to dance that way! How can they let such happen? Yes, we too adults love the jolly bee, but we need to understand also that most of the kids look up to his wholesome image. To the Jollibee store who let this happen whats wrong with you guys?!” Although Jollibee clarified that the event was not a kid’s party, they admitted that it was a “deviation” from their standard. Other netizens praised how good the dancer was, while others commended the dancer for bringing joy to the public. Will Not Happen Again The company also assured the public that they will ensure that all performances will “reflect the values and spirit of family, friendship, and wholesome fun that Jollibee has always been known for.” They also said this will apply to both kid’s parties and internal events.
