Movie buffs, say hello to November! This week’s MovieMix gives the young, the older and everyone else in between, the power to choose. “Trolls,” starring Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake, and “A Monster Calls” are for child in heart who like fantasy and adventure. “The Accountant,” which Ben Affleck stars in, is for those who are a bit more business-casual serious with a knack for crime and action. If a biopic war film directed by Mel Gibson is more to your patriotic liking, then be sure to see “Hacksaw Ridge.” And finally, for every Pinoy fan of Lovi Poe and Derek Ramsay, watch “The Escort” — definitely a no-brainer.

So, now that we have laid the movie cards on the table, let us now know more about each featured film. Shall we?

Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, Gwen Stefani Voices’ Star In ‘Trolls’

Trolls are creatures who live in a perpetual state of happiness, dancing, singing and hugging all day long. But then things begin to change when the Bergens (the unhappy large creatures) discover that when they eat trolls, they feel happier for a moment. The optimistic troll leader, Poppy (Anna Kendrick), and her opposite, Branch (Justin Timberlake) then venture to save their village from destruction leading them to a world they have never known before. The film also stars the voices of Zooey Deschanel, Russell Brand, James Corden, and Gwen Stefani. The ‘Trolls’ hit Philippine Theaters on November 2.

Mel Gibson, Director Of Star-Studded WWII Film ‘Hacksaw Ridge’

Hacksaw Ridge is a film about a WWII American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss. He served during the Battle of Okinawa refusing to kill people causing him to be awarded the Medal of Honor as the first Conscientious Objector in American history. Mel Gibson directed the biopic that has a romantic theme to it as well. Its star-studded cast includes  Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, and Luke Bracey. Gibson got a 10-minute standing ovation for the patriotic feature film. The ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ hits Philippine theaters on November 4.

Ben Affleck Is Autistic CPA In ‘The Accountant’

The Accountant is a film about an autistic, small-town certified public accountant, Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) who earns as a freelance accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. As the autistic mathematics genius finds more about the discrepancies on millions of dollars, many deaths surface. Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor and John Lithgow also star in this much-awaited thriller. The ‘Accountant’ hit Philippine theaters on November 1.

Liam Neeson And Sigourney Weaver Star In Award-Winning Film Adaptation ‘A Monster Calls’

A Monster Calls is a film adaptation of the low fantasy novel written by Patrick Ness for children. It features a boy who struggles to cope with his mother’s cancer and is repeatedly visited by a monster who tell stories in the middle of the night. The book won the year’s best in children’s literature for 2012 and Ness was awarded the Carnegie Medal and the Greenaway Medal. Its movie stars Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Tobey Kebbell, Lewis MacDougall and Liam Neeson. ‘A Monster Calls’ hits Philippine theaters on November 2.
