October is surely a month of movies streaks with this new addition to the Popcorn Gang’s movie playlist. This week’s movie premieres include Benedict Cumberbatch as ‘Doctor Strange’, Philippine Indie Film ‘Apocalypse Child,’ and horror film ‘Ouija: Origin of Evil.’ Let the movie marathon begin!

Benedict Cumberbatch Is ‘Doctor Strange’

Benedict Cumberbatch is Stephen Strange, a former neurosurgeon who begins a journey of healing finding himself led into the dark world of the mystic arts.

His colleague, Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) helps him anchor his humanity. ‘Doctor Strange’ hits Philippine theaters on October 26.

Francis Ford Coppola’s Son Is ‘Apocalypse Child’

The Indie film that has been successful abroad at the New York Asian Film Festival tells about the supposed love child by Oscar-winner Francis Ford Coppola in the surfing town of Baler. The film won four awards in the the 3rd QCinema International Filmfest  which includes Mario Corejo as Best Director.

Cornejo says that the movie has changed Baler forever – ‘creating the first Filipino surfing community.’ Award-winning Sid Lucero stars as the surfing instructor Ford who has been told that he the son of American director Francis Ford Coppola. Gwen Zamora stars as Ford’s fiancee, Serena. “Apocalypse” was released in the Philippines on October 23.

‘Ouija: Origin of Evil’

The movie tells of the most terrifying game known to man and is a sequel to the 2014’s sleeper hit that opened at number one. The film is set in the year 1965 where a widow and her two daughters unknowingly invite darkness into their home by adding a new stunt to boost their family business.

The cast includes Henry Thomas, Doug Jones, Parker Mack, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel, Sam Anderson, and Annalise Basso Lulu Wilson. “Ouija: Origin of Evil” hits Philippine theaters on October 26.
