Whole Day Brownout On Sep. 9 In Baguio And Parts Of Benguet

The whole of Baguio City and parts of Benguet province will experience more than 8 hours without electricity on Sep. 9. According to the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), the scheduled interruption starts at 7 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

BENECO announced the whole day brownout as well as other scheduled interruptions in the city and Benguet through their social media accounts.

BENECO: Sep. 9 Interruption Due To Preventive Maintenance By NGCP

According to the local electric cooperative, the Saturday power outage will be due to a preventive maintenance check by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). NGCP serves as the conduit between the power generators and sources of electricity and the power distributors, the electric cooperatives.

The maintenance activity will be undertaken to ensure that the grid is working properly and possible problem areas, if any are identified. According to the NGCP Facebook page, other preventive maintenance schedules are being implemented this week in other parts of northern Luzon and southern Luzon.

It will affect the whole of Baguio City, and the municipalities of La Trinidad, Sablan and Tuba. Parts of the municipalities of Tublay and Itogon will also experience the power outage.

Other Scheduled Power Interruptions This Week

BENECO also shared other power interruptions for the rest of the week, mainly due to the replacement and repair of electric poles in certain areas.

On Sep. 5, the following areas in Benguet will be without electricity from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Poblacion, Kibungan, Anoding, Bahong, La Trinidad, and parts of Monterrazas, Tuding, Itogon. Baguio City will be fully electrified that day.

On Sep. 6, parts of Middle and Upper Quezon Hill, as well as parts of San Carlos Heights, and Pongian, Loakan Proper will be without power from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. also due to electric pole repair and maintenance activities.
