Sophie Turner, X Men dark Phoenix

The last installment for the X-Men franchise, “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” starring Sophie Turner is about to hit cinemas. Marking the end of the seventh highest-grossing film series, the movie is set to be released on June 7. To kick-off that excitement, we listed some reasons why X-Men: Dark Phoenix is a must-watch film.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix, The New Narrative

We first saw the story of Jean Grey transitioning to be the Phoenix in “X-Men: Last Stand,” where the character was built-up as an antagonist of the story while Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) played the protagonist. The Dark Phoenix offers a whole new plot for the character of Sophie Turner. It seems the focus of the movie will be on the telepathic and telekinetic power of the Dark Phoenix.

The narrative will start with Sophie Turner’s character traveling in space to finish a mission. Things go south once the young mutant encounters an unknown cosmic force that will awaken her abilities. Later on, Jean Grey becomes stronger and stronger until it gets out of control to the point that she becomes a threat who Professor X (James McAvoy) and the team must face.

Who’s In, Who’s Out

The franchise is jam-packed with well-known actors and actresses. Coming back to the screen along with Sophie Turner are the young mutants from the 2016’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ – Alexandra Shipp who plays Storm and Tye Sheridan as Cyclops. With them are the ‘X-Men: First Class’ team – Professor X played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and Nicholas Hoult as Beast.

Also re-joining the team are Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler and Evan Peters as Quicksilver. In addition to these amazing talents, Jessica Chastain plays as the antagonist in the film.

The cast is a mix of new and old members. Unfortunately, Olivia Munn who plays Psylocke won’t be on it. In an interview with Comicbook, she said that the reason for her not being able to join the cast of the Dark Phoenix was because she was shooting another film, ‘The Predator.’ It is also sad that Lana Condor who plays Jubilee will not be in the film as well. Condor said that she was filming ‘To All The Boys I Loved Before’ that is why she was unable to shoot the X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix Rumors

Halston Sage Not Taylor Swift

In 2017, there where fan theories that say Taylor Swift will play the role of Dazzler in the Dark Phoenix. In the same year, there were leaked photos of Halston Sage shooting with Tye Sheridan which was later on taken down. These claims were neither confirmed nor denied. It seems all we can do is wait.

No Wolverine, No Logan

Dark Phoenix might be the first film without  Hugh Jackman. Without Wolverine. Jackman’s character has been seen in the X-Men franchise. Sadly, after the 2017 film ‘Logan,’ Jackman said that he would be leaving the role behind. Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine for almost 20 years.

Not So PG-13

For previous X-Men movies, the violence and language are set for a younger audience. However, we will not be witnessing that in Dark Phoenix. According to Comicbook, Simon Kinberg said that in his  20 years of experience in making a film like X-Men: Dark Phoenix, he learned that this kind of story needs intensity to be properly conveyed.

‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ will be the most unconventional X-Men film. All in all, this is a film you will not want to miss.
