Xia Vigor

Seven-year-old Xia Vigor became an internet sensation overnight because of her spot-on adorable impersonation of Taylor Swift during an episode of TV show “Your Face Sounds Familiar”on ABS-CBN. Since Xia’s performance was posted on YouTube on January 15, it has had around 5 million views. It wasn’t long before Xia made local and international headlines and grabbed the attention of Hollywood and even British host Piers Morgan.

Xia Vigor On Hollywood Role As Shirley Temple

In a report made by UK’s Daily Mail, Xia’s father Alan Vigor, a civil engineer in the UK, said a Hollywood director got in touch with him and said they wanted Xia in America to play Shirley Temple for a future project. The unnamed director said,”I’ve been waiting all my life for the next Shirley Temple and I’ve finally found her.”

The director, who remains “top secret at the moment,” is persuading Xia’s mother Christy. Alan and his wife however, seem reluctant because of the distance. In a separate report,  Xia tells Daily Mail, “It’s a nice idea but I’m not ready for Hollywood.” Reporter says Xia said the statement with “remarkable maturity.”

British TV host Piers Morgan On Xia’s Video, ‘It’s Not Cute, It’s Just Not Right’

During the “Good Morning Britain” Show on January 17, there was a discussion on Xia Vigor’s performance on Taylor’s Mini Me, referring of course to Xia Vigor. TV host Piers Morgan said, “It’s not cute, I don’t like it. That just means millions of young girls will be slapping on make-up and lipstick and all that, it’s just not right. Sorry.”

Morgan went on to explain that when things like Xia’s video go viral on social media, “millions and millions” of young girls watch it and imitate it. He said, “Before you know it, You’ve got that look now for every seven-year-old in the world, is that what we want?”

To that, Xia’s father Alan tells Daily Mail, “He’s wrong, we know the bigger picture over here so we don’t worry about Piers Morgan.” Xia’s mom Christy also said, “For Piers Morgan to say something like that, he’s a journalist, he should know his facts first before he commented on something that he doesn’t really know the full story.” She went on to say that it was unfair and that she will never put her daughter in a situation where she will be sexualised.

The report also said Xia revealed she gets paid £80 (roughly P5,000) for each TV appearance. Xia’s mom said they’re not doing any of this for the money further revealing that the family relocated to Manila with almost 1M pesos which is now gone. Christy says she goes with her daughter in all TV assignments and always asks Xia if she’s happy. The moment Xia says no, they will stop. Christy says, “Her happiness always comes first to me.”
