Halle Bailey made headlines and  surprised everyone when it was announced that she was cast as Ariel for the live-action adaptation of ‘The Little Mermaid.’ Before everything goes crazy, let’s get to know more about Halle Bailey. 1.  Chloe X Halle

Halle Bailey is famously known as part of the duo named Chloe x Halle. The two are sisters who were born in Atlanta, Georgia and was raised in Los Angeles, California. They rose to stardom through YouTube. For 8 years, the Bailey Sisters have maximized the power of this platform posting their song covers and original compositions.

The first video they posted in their official account was a cover of Beyonce’s “Best Thing I Never Had.”

2. She was under Beyonce’s record label

In 2013, after being active for 2 years on YouTube, the duo has been recognized by Beyonce as one of the most iconic singers in the world. Their cover of ‘Pretty Hurts’ caught the attention of the Single Ladies singer.

Later on, Chloe and Halle were signed under the record label of Beyonce, Parkwood Entertainment. in 2016, Chloe x Halle released their first ever EP called ‘Sugar Symphony’

3. Awards and Nominations

In 2017, Chloe x Halle released a new EP named ‘The Two Of Us.’ In the same year, Rolling Stone named the album one of the best R&B albums of 2017.

Fast forward to 2018, the duo released their debut album “The Kids Are All Right” which was executive produced and written by the duo. The album features “Warrior” the official soundtrack of ‘A Wrinkle In Time” and ‘Grown’ the theme song of TV Series ‘Grown-ish’ Their 2018 album earned a nomination at the 61st Grammy’s Awards for the best urban contemporary album and the duo were nominated for the best new artist.

4. Bailey’s on-screen appearances

Aside from her passion for music, the 19-year-old singer has a heart for acting also. Her first on-screen appearance was in 2006 for Queen Latifah’s film ‘Last Holiday’, she also made appearances in several Disney series like Austin & Ally and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. Now, Halle plays as Sky Foster, in the American comedy tv series ‘Grown-ish.’

5. Halle Bailey as Ariel

Halle joins the list of Disney’s live-action princesses as she takes on the role of Ariel in the Little Mermaid reboot. Rob Marshall, director, and producer of the reboot tell Variety that Halle has a huge advantage from the start. He said that the combination of her spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance, plus her amazing talent in singing gave her the role.

Halle will join Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina as the set of characters for the reboot. While Melissa McCarthy is still in talks to play the villain Ursula.
