POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: On today’s  Tawag ng Tanghalan episode, new defending champion Crismille Vallente will attempt a second win. Crismille took the Golden Microphone from two-time defending champion Lendon Zuniga last January 28.

Crismille who hails from Mindanao, won the daily competition last Saturday. Will she keep the Golden Microphone or will today’s daily winner topple her as defending champion?

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 30 Performances

First contender on stage was eighteen-year-old Elysa Villareal from Marikina. Elysa came from Australia. She has joined competitions like “The X-Factor Australia” and “The Voice.” However, Elysa’s dream is to have a singing career here in the Philippines. She sang “Nobody’s Perfect” by Jessie J on Tawag Ng Tanghalan as a stepping stone to reach her dream. Unique and different is how hurado Billy Crawford described Elysa’s voice.

Sarah May Sotto from Buenavista, Quezon was the next contender to take the stage. Sarah is twenty years old. She is a third-year college student but had to stop because of financial reasons. Her father delivers coconuts while she and her mom sell mineral water and broomsticks to make ends meet. “I will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston was her contest piece and unfortunately punong hurado Yeng Constantino had to signal for the gong. According to Yeng, she was out of tune from the get go. Sarah May is automatically disqualified from the show.

Last contender was representative from Cebu, Cristal Jane Lacida. Cristal loves singing but most especially loves joining beauty contests. Cristal joined Mutya ng Pilipinas 2015 and other beauty pageants in Cebu and usually wins the talent portion. She dreams of becoming Miss Universe 2020. Cristal sang “Stand up for Love” by Destiny’s child. Hurado Jaya and Mitoy enjoyed Cristal’s performance except for a few out-of-tune notes. Song choice was also an issue for hurado Jaya.
